Re: gold on talk sport
Will be saying much the same as here:

https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/3904699/david-gold-admits-the-days-of-west-ham-being-footballs-academy-may-be-over/?utm_source=TWITTER&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=SprnklrSUNOrganic&UTMX=Editorial:TheSunFootball:TwImageandlink:Statement:Sport

TBH I think his original twitter posts were a bit misinterpreted, much of what he says there is true. Something that many on here have mentioned a LOT is that managers often have a short shelf life at each club, so need to deliver results, and often they don't trust inexperienced youth players over experienced top flight and international players. I can see his point.

Someone set the bullshit counter running, let's see what the old liar manages today.

Re: gold on talk sport
oh dear, I think the reason for the interview is nothing to do with youth players being held back and all about lowering expectations. cunt talking about balancing the books but anyone who looked at our dealings last season knows we were in profit. says they're looking at ONE striker signing, next level my fat hairy arse

Re: gold on talk sport
"Easier to bring Paul Allen in to the 1980 cup final as Brooking was the only international in the side. Nowadays a cup final would involve 30 odd internationals"

He knows his history!!!!!!!

Re: gold on talk sport
Concentrating exclusively on bringing in new strikers but as ringing players in from Europe failed last year they must have premier experience. Not interested in the likes of Tammy Abraham as not experienced enough.

Cutting down the options a bit. Seems like the eggs are in the Giroud basket.

Johnson 11:29 Thu Jun 29
Re: gold on talk sport
Setting it up for us not signing anyone by narrowing their options to almost impossibility I see.

What a surprise.

Exactly Ed. Not forgetting the likes of Dev, Stretch and Tonka.

Re: gold on talk sport
What a load of bullshit.

Who's putting pressure on the manager not to buy or play young players? It's not the fans.

It's the owners.

Re: gold on talk sport
Eddie B

I love a bit of pedanticism as much as the next whoer, but none of these were internationals at the time, Parkes only played for England once and that was 6 years earlier!

Trevor B 11:43 Thu Jun 29
Re: gold on talk sport
oa,

devo didn't get called up until after the FA Cup final, same as stewart and alvin.

seems goldo knows his shit and you dont?

Re: gold on talk sport
Balancing the the books eh.! Got to make sure they can make that 7% interest payment.

Any mention about once living down Green street.?

ornchurch ammer 11:46 Thu Jun 29
Re: gold on talk sport
Really Trev? Why do you think I said "not forgetting the likes of" as they went on to become internationals. Does everything always need to be spelt out for some people?

Private Dancer 11:52 Thu Jun 29
Re: gold on talk sport
The question should have been why have you sold the club down the river for absolutely fuck all reason you beardy old cunt?

A relegation battles ensues.

AKA ERNIE 11:52 Thu Jun 29
Re: gold on talk sport
shouldve asked him why a club that gets 57k a week in tkt sales plus just got 100million off sky has to sell first to be able to buy which he just said

goose 11:55 Thu Jun 29
Re: gold on talk sport
why are we balancing books? we made a profit last year and have just free'd up a lot of wages.

the pair of penny pinching Spiv cunts.

if you renewed this is your fault.

Crassus 11:55 Thu Jun 29
Re: gold on talk sport
So a cup final would involve 30 internationals - 15 players a side then

If he is including subs, there was only one a side in 1980, Bobby Gould was ours

Oh and that Arsenal side was loaded with internationals

On the subject of youth - Spurs do all right with them, Everton too

Gold was talking rot
